Kinesiology Taping

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

Identify the fundamental properties of kinesiology tape and their relevance to postoperative tissue.

01

Explain the EDF concept - epidermis, dermis, and fascia - as it relates to postoperative kinesiology taping.

02

Differentiate between applications requiring an anchor and those in which an anchor may be unnecessary.

03

Demonstrate appropriate tape tension percentages based on the intended postoperative application.

04

Apply the Less IS More principle when selecting tape amount, tension, direction, and application strat

05

Review and interpret selected publications supporting the use and physiological principles of kinesiology taping.

06

Demonstrate safe, intentional kinesiology tape application on a live model.

07

Recognize how postoperative taping principles used in cosmetic and plastic surgery may translate to other surgical recovery settings when appropriate.

COURSE OVERVIEW

“Be the medicine in the room.”

This 2-hour live course provides an evidence-informed introduction to kinesiology taping for postoperative care, with primary emphasis on cosmetic and plastic surgery recovery. Participants will explore the properties of kinesiology tape, the EDF (epidermis, dermis, and fascia) concept, appropriate tension percentages, and the clinical reasoning behind when to use an anchor and when an anchor may not be necessary. Guided by the principle Less IS More, the course emphasizes intentional application rather than excessive tape or tension. Current publications and supporting evidence will be reviewed to strengthen understanding of the physiological principles and clinical considerations associated with

postoperative taping. Instructor

demonstration and hands-on practice with a live model will allow participants to apply these concepts in a practical setting. While the primary focus is cosmetic and plastic surgery, the foundational principles presented may be transferable to other postoperative procedures when appropriate.
